Chestnut Yardball

$40

A ball and a glove in one.

Chestnut is a warm, reddish brown, the color of a well-oiled saddle. Navy thread gives it some contrast without shouting.

Of all our colors, it's the one that looks like it's been sitting in a clubhouse for 50 years, even on day one.

For the fan who keeps a shelf of old gloves and signed balls, it fits right in. Then it comes off the shelf, because it's a small leather ball that's meant to be thrown.

How it feels

Enough weight to really throw. Enough give that it lands without a sting.

Size10" around
A baseball, a Yardball and a softball side by side on grass, seen from above

Bigger than a baseball. Smaller than a softball.

4 oz

A little lighter than a baseball. Heavy enough to throw like one, light enough that a missed catch isn't a big deal.

Soft, not squishy

Wool and cotton inside, harness leather outside. Broken in from the first throw, and it looks better the more you beat it up.

Good questions
Do I need a glove?

No. That's the whole idea. It's soft enough to catch bare-handed and firm enough to throw like a real ball.

How big is it?

Ten inches around, about 3.2 inches across. Bigger than a baseball, smaller than a softball, softer than both.

Who is it for?

Anyone who can throw and catch. Six to sixty, give or take. Kids, grown-ups, the coworker two desks over.

Can I throw it inside?

Carefully. It's soft, but it's still a leather ball. Mind the lamps.

Can you hit it with a bat?

No. It's made for catch, not batting practice.

Can I return it?

Yes. Unused balls in their original packaging can come back within 30 days, and holiday orders placed Black Friday through December 31 have until January 31. Return shipping is a flat $8 unless the ball arrived damaged or defective. Read the full return policy.

How does shipping work?

Balls ship from Kansas City in 1–2 business days. Shipping is free on orders over $99. Learn more from our shipping policy.
