Pencils get graded by how soft they write. The No. 2 is the one everybody filled in bubbles with. So we burned SOFT into the side, dyed the ends eraser pink, and stitched it in green.
You can try to leave it on the desk, but it won't stay there.

It's heavy enough to throw quite a distance but soft enough so that if my grandson misses the catch, it won't break his nose.
I said, “You throw it. And you catch it. No glove required.” … And he got into it. Highly recommended for everyone, including dumb brothers.
